Some love stories are written in books. Others? They’re written in dog parks.
Rania and James first crossed paths while letting their pups run wild and free, completely unaware that this casual encounter would evolve into a three-and-a-half-year journey of laughter, loyalty, and love. What started as a friendly chat over wagging tails became a partnership grounded in shared values, curiosity, and deep admiration for one another.
For James, it didn’t take long to know Rania was the one. He saw it in her unwavering moral compass, the way she stood up for what she believed in, and the gentle strength that made him certain she’d be an incredible mother one day. For Rania, it was the way he embraced her culture with open arms, how he adored her dog despite his allergies, and how he couldn’t wait to introduce her to his family. It was a love built on intention, and undeniable chemistry. This brings us to love at the Historic Courthouse.
The Proposal: A Tropical Surprise
After a dreamy morning filled with what Rania described as “extreme princess treatment,” James hinted at a long-overdue dinner date. They hadn’t been out in over two months, so when he told her to dress up, her heart fluttered with excitement.
Before dinner, they made a detour to the Milwaukee Domes, where the tropical dome provided the perfect backdrop for what Rania thought would be a few cute photos. But on the bridge, surrounded by lush greenery and soft light, James got down on one knee. Hidden nearby, his groomsman Matt captured the entire moment, preserving the magic forever.
The Wedding Day: Love at the Historic Courthouse
Rania has a deep love for historic buildings that carry stories in their bones, and their venue in Wisconsin was no exception. Originally a courthouse from 1893, the space was preserved in all its original grandeur. The minute she stepped through the grand entrance, she knew. The original wood paneling, high ceilings, antique vaults, bridal suite, and ballroom created a timeless, cinematic ambiance. They knew they needed to celebrate their love at the Historic Courthouse.
Every moment of the day was filled with emotion, elegance, and thoughtful details that reflected their shared journey. As a wedding photographer, I couldn’t help but be inspired by their chemistry, the venue’s character, and the genuine joy that poured out of every guest.
Words of Wisdom from the Bride
When asked what advice she’d give other couples, Rania shared some heartfelt gems:
- “Eat your cake!” Yes, you read that right. “We only had a taste during the cake cutting and I regret not sitting down to savor it. It was delicious, and I wish we’d paused to enjoy it.”
- Do your research on vendors. “Good, supportive vendors make all the difference. When you work with people who truly care, everything falls into place.”
- Divide and conquer. “James was incredibly hands-on with the planning. We planned the whole wedding ourselves and hired a day-of coordinator. His help made the process smoother and so much more enjoyable.”
What’s Next for Rania & James?
While their honeymoon is still on hold, the adventure is far from over. This summer, the couple will travel to Kenya to celebrate a traditional wedding ceremony with Rania’s family in Nairobi and Mombasa. After soaking up the love (and sun) in Africa, they’ll return home for a much-needed rest, before setting their sights on the Bahamas in the winter or spring of 2026.
And beyond travel? They’re looking forward to their next chapter: starting a family.
