As a wedding photographer, it’s a privilege to capture the love stories, and Daniella and Jonah’s wedding was no exception. From the moment we met them, we could feel the deep connection and comfort they share. It blossomed over nine years, beginning at a summer camp, evolving into a friendship, and eventually a lifelong partnership. They’ve been together for 6 ½ years now, and their love story is one of enduring friendship and an ever-growing bond. We are excited to share more about this stunning summer wedding.
The Big Question
When Jonah proposed to Daniella in the summer of 2023, it was a grand surprise. It was filled with the love and support of their families. Jonah had been interning in New York, and Daniella was working in Chicago. She had no idea what was coming. On the day of the proposal, Daniella’s sister and mother suggested they visit Restoration Hardware in Chicago. It was one of their favorite spots. Little did Daniella know, her three other siblings and Jonah’s siblings were waiting inside, holding roses and leading her to the rooftop. When she reached the top, there was Jonah, on one knee, ready to ask the big question. The surprise was perfect, especially because Jonah had been sending her fake “updates” from work that morning, hiding the fact that he was already in Chicago!
Finding The Perfect Dress
Daniella’s wedding dress story is nothing short of serendipity. She and her mother had visited a vintage fair in Chicago, and as they were about to leave, they noticed a stunning dress in the window of a nearby bridal shop. Both were immediately captivated by it, and Daniella knew she had to try it on. That dress—along with the matching veil—was the very first wedding dress Daniella ever tried, and she bought it that day. The gown, from Glamour Closet, was simply magical, making her feel like she was meant to find it.
The Wedding Day
When it came to the wedding day itself, Daniella’s vision was vibrant and bold. She wanted lots of color—something different from the more traditional white and pink floral arrangements seen at many weddings. She decked out one room entirely in candles, creating a warm, glowing atmosphere, while the other was filled with bright, colorful florals. Every detail was thoughtful, and the ambiance was mesmerizing. Daniella described the day as the best day of her life, filled with joy and surrounded by the people she loves most.
One of their most cherished traditions was the Kabbalat Panim, a Jewish custom where the groom dances to the bride and covers her face with a veil. The energy in the room during this moment was tangible, with everyone singing and dancing. It was a highlight for both Daniella and Jonah, a joyous celebration of their love.
Getting Every Photo
Of course, as with many brides, Daniella had her nerves about the photos. She was worried that there wouldn’t be enough time to capture all the shots she had envisioned, but those worries disappeared the moment we started. We made sure to capture every special moment, from candid shots to carefully planned portraits. It was important to Daniella that they had enough time for photos with just her and Jonah, and we’re so glad they prioritized that because it gave us the opportunity to create intimate, beautiful images of their connection. The entire experience was fun, and we were all laughing and enjoying ourselves, which made the day even more memorable.
Future Plans
Daniella and Jonah plan to continue their journey together with a honeymoon in Italy in the summer of 2025. From Rome to the Amalfi Coast, they’re eager to explore all that Italy has to offer. They’ll share those beautiful moments with their loved ones, just as they did on their wedding day. They truly are best friends, and they both believe that the joy and happiness of their wedding day is only the beginning of a lifetime of shared experiences.
Looking back on Daniella and Jonah’s wedding day, it’s clear that their love story is one for the ages. Their day was filled with warmth, laughter, and love, and being able to capture their special moments was an honor.
