We were part of a privileged few, able to come together and celebrate the wedding of this lovely couple.
Weddings have been quite unfamiliar over the last two years. The many regulations, fears, and safety concerns equally play their part in shaping the way we celebrate. Micro-weddings and elopements, in particular, have become quite popular, for obvious reasons. The wedding of Jessie and Matt may not have been an elopement, but it was certainly an intimate affair. With only their nearest and dearest there to witness their big day.
Today we would like to share their fun and casual Chicago celebration with you.
A Long Lasting Friendship
Some couples decide to tie the knot after 3 or 4 dates. While others maybe wait two or three years to decide if their partner is “the one.” For Jessie and Matt, however, they were not in so much of a rush. Meeting initially through friends, the pair struck up a friendship outside their mutual social groups. Developing a love for each other that would last all the way through their twenties up to today, over 15 years later.
An Unfussy Bridal Look & a Sophisticated Groom
Jessie is not one for complicated, or busy style statements. She is more of a fan of classic, flattering styling. And this could be seen in her big day look. A fitted, gathered gown from BHLDN hugged her in all the right places, while also giving her a statement, with a sweeping skirt. Who chose a classic tux, but opted for a patterned jacket that almost threatened to steal the show! Together, they balanced each other out flawlessly.
Special Moments with Family in the Garden
The pretty gardens of Cheney Mansion in Chicago played host to the ceremony of Jessie and Matt. A small gathering witnessed their exchange of vows and watched on adoringly as they pledged their allegiance to each other. With fun little pauses, every now and again, to include their son in the ceremony. These were some of many touching wedding ceremony moments witnessed by us, their Chicago photographers, and their loved ones.
A Relaxed Party Atmosphere
Following the portraits with our bride and groom in the Chicago gardens of Cheney Mansion venue. The pair set about celebrating their nuptials with a very relaxed, family gathering. Everyone was in a jubilant mood, toasting the happy couple and hitting the dance floor without fear. They were all, equally moved to watch the first dance of Jessie and Matt. A delightful moment that their loving son just couldn’t resist joining in on. A fitting end to a very kind, and special day for this family.
