Experience all their special moments, and find out a little more about our charming couple, Carla and Eric.
We recently had the pleasure of being the photographers at the Chicago wedding of Carla and Eric. A fun-loving duo who (literally) tied the knot in the Olympia Fields Park District, before celebrating at the elegant, Idlewild Country Club. Both were equally fabulous venues that were full of love that day, and we feel so blessed to have been able to capture it all for Carla and Eric.
Friends First, Romance Later
From the moment you meet Carla and Eric, you can feel the kindness emanating from them. They are a joyful couple that are always smiling. It was no surprise to us when we found out that they actually met through a summer camp for special needs teens. At first, this caring couple were just friends, and remained loyal to the cause, until they started college. There they started dating, and their romance blossomed.
A Downtown Proposal & Rooftop Celebrations
Eric proposed to Carla outside the Wrigley building in downtown Chicago. It was more than just passing tourists and bustling businesspeople watching their special moment. Because Eric had alerted their family’s to his plans, and they were eagerly watching from the second floor of the building. Following the proposal, they all came rushing out to congratulate them both, and guide Carla towards Eric’s next surprise. Which was a fabulous dinner nearby, and followed by drinks at a rooftop bar with their loved ones.
An Emotional Ceremony Full of Tears and Laughter
You could tell that Eric had told himself that he wasn’t going to cry during their ceremony. He did not succeed. He was not the only one full of emotion during the exchange of vows, with close family and friends all clutching their tissues. It was a delightful wedding ceremony at Olympia Fields Park District, underneath the pavilion, surrounded by nothing but adoring loved ones and acres of greenery. The pair married with a traditional knot tying ceremony, that involved both the best man and chief bridesmaid. A nice touch, and a reminder of how important friends and family are to this couple.
Timeless Minimal Decor
Both Carla and Eric are lovers of contemporary styling. Smart, uncomplicated, and classic. They made sure that the overall look of their wedding mimicked their exacting taste, by using modern, minimal decor throughout. With highlights of gold, greenery, and lots of blooming white flowers. A theme which looked so elegant during their ceremony, and equally sophisticated at their reception later that evening.
Wedding Portraits that Came Full Circle
Due to the pandemic, Carla and Eric’s engagement lasted roughly three years. But for them, their proposal felt like it happened just yesterday. They wanted to celebrate that special moment, and the city that it took place in, by backdropping their portraits against downtown Chicago. These spectacular shots featured not just the happy couple, but their nearest and dearest too. In a series that captured some of the most iconic views, and buildings in Chicago.
The Long-awaited Wedding, and Honeymoon
Carla and Eric have been together for over ten years. And during the pandemic, they had no choice but to patiently wait for their big day to finally come, and their long-awaited honeymoon to happen too! The beautiful islands of Hawaii was their destination of choice, and it was where they would spend 2 weeks reflecting and adventuring. Before starting the rest of their lives together, as husband and wife.
