When we shot this beautiful wedding at Mistwood Golf Club for of Brenda and Kyle back in June of this year, we were blown away by the adoration these two lovebirds had for each other! They were inseparable, and for us, they were the very definition of #couplegoals! And the setting for their big day was just as wonderful! The Mistwood Golf Club is a stunning destination to host a wedding, with its classic brick façade clubhouse and breathtaking scenery all around. It was the ideal place for Brenda and Kyle to finally say ‘I do’.
As wedding photographers, it’s important for us to get to know our Chicago couples before, during and after their big day. We don’t want to be their guests, but we want them to feel like they’re super comfortable with our presence at their wedding, and that they can truly relax around us.
Today, we’d like to share a bit about Brenda and Kyle with you, while also giving you a glimpse into their stunning wedding day at Mistwood Golf Club. They are such a sweet couple, and we’re so thrilled to have been able to capture their nuptials for them.
Before we can share with you the details of their gorgeous Mistwood Golf Club wedding day. We have to tell you about how Brenda and Kyle got together.
Love Blossomed on New Year’s Day
Brenda and Kyle matched on Bumble towards the end of 2016, but officially started their romance on January 1st, 2017. On this day, a little over 5 years ago, when most of us were recovering from the celebrations of the night before, these two were lighting the spark that would lead them all the way to their Mistwood Golf Club wedding, many years later.
“And So Together They Built a Life They Loved”
Kyle proposed to Brenda out in Maryland a couple of months after they purchased their home, back in 2020. It was Brenda’s last day of work, and so Kyle thought that it was the perfect time to finally pop the question. He’d gotten a sign that said in bold letters, ‘AND SO TOGETHER THEY BUILT A LIFE THEY LOVED’, and hung it up in their new home. Along with this sentimental signage, Kyle also gathered a blooming bouquet of flowers and bottle of Champagne for them to share. He set everything up in their then, empty kitchen, and waited patiently for Brenda to come home.
Upon arriving back at their new home, Brenda walked up the stairs and was greeted by Kyle, positioned under that sign, with a romantic song playing in the background. Bouquet of flowers in hand, he got down on one knee, and proposed. She, of course, said yes, and they celebrated that 4th of July weekend by taking a surprise trip back to Chicago.
Respected Family Values
When you have a partner who respects where you come from, and the people that raised you, you know you have a good match. For Brenda, that was certainly the case with Kyle. At 28, she still had a curfew, set by her family, something which many partners would choose to ignore, or not take seriously. But Kyle, knew how important Brenda’s family was to her, and that if she was home late, it was very much his fault! So he always got her home on time. Not only that, but he was also deeply respectful of her culture, and made sure to learn Spanish before he would even consider asking her to marry him! ¡Qué lindo!
The Perfect Gown
Brenda couldn’t have looked, or felt more like a princess in her wedding dress. It was a stunning gown designed by Martina Liana and chosen from Here Comes the Bride in Glendale Heights, Illinois. The silhouette and cut of her wedding dress was ideal for our bride, and its style matched her Mistwood Golf Club setting just perfectly.
Here’s how Brenda describes her bridal experience, “I tried on a lot of dresses that were similar to it, but I fell in love with the train on my gown. It was so long and beautiful. I was looking for a long train, but with a sexy fit, that was also appropriate for church. I liked to that it had a low back with all the buttons running down it. It had everything I was looking for.”
Mistwood Golf Club
When you’ve got a wedding venue as naturally stunning, and elegantly appointed as the Mistwood Golf Club, you don’t need a lot of crazy decor! Brenda and Kyle embraced their beautiful surroundings, and just gave their reception venue a few personal touches. The endless greenery in particular was certainly much loved by these two. They had so much fun having their portraits taken out in the fields, and by the water. It was a joy to capture them, revelling in their big day moment together.
Dancing Through Life
Brenda and Kyle may not have wanted to do a ‘first look’, opting instead to wait until they saw each other at the altar. But they weren’t going to miss that first dance moment! Brenda loves to dance, and Kyle was desperate for this part of their special day to be just right. And so together they took 20 hours of dance lessons leading up to their Mistwood Golf Club wedding, to guarantee they would nail it. And trust us, they did! It was a particularly sweet moment, and we were so proud of them both.
Sunset
When planning the moments our couple wanted to be photographed, they said that sunset shots were really high on their agenda. Therefore, we knew we needed to keep a tight ship when it came to timings. Thankfully, it was effortless to gather Brenda and Kyle when we needed to. And so, with the sun slowly setting over ‘Chicagoland’, we were able to capture our lovebirds, and create some of our favorite shots of the day.
We had a blast capturing the celebrations at Brenda and Kyle’s Mistwood Golf Club wedding. They were a pleasure to be around, and their combined family and friends really took us into their hearts. We thank them for that.
