Donna and Eric’s first meeting was one of the few positive outcomes of the COVID-19 pandemic. Both were dedicated medical professionals working in high-stress environments—Eric in the emergency room and Donna in a psychiatric hospital. Due to staffing shortages, Donna was temporarily assigned to Eric’s emergency room, and their paths crossed.
Donna recalls, “Eric made me feel a safety I never felt before. I could be myself without judgment and without worry. He also challenges me in ways I never experienced, making me a better person.” Eric shares a similar sentiment, “Donna met me at a time when I wasn’t happy about the life I was living. She pushes me to pursue my dreams and be a better person. I cannot ask for anything more than the love and support she gives.”
Their bond grew quickly and deeply, with their first conversation lasting nearly five hours but feeling like mere minutes. They have been together for almost four years, supporting and uplifting each other every step of the way.
An Adventurous Proposal
Eric’s proposal to Donna was as unique and adventurous as their love story. The couple took a weekend trip to Pismo Beach, CA, where they decided to rent kayaks and venture out onto the ocean. Despite Eric’s fear of the ocean, he bravely paddled out with Donna in the early morning, surrounded by cold, choppy waters and dense fog.
Donna loved the eerie atmosphere, and as they reached a cave, Eric asked to pause. Inside the cave, he began to express his love for Donna. Despite his nerves, he dropped to one knee and awkwardly but sweetly proposed. Donna was completely shocked and elated, immediately saying yes. They then kayaked back to shore so Donna could call her family, who were equally surprised and thrilled.
A Captivating Dress
Finding the perfect dress was a memorable experience for Donna. She enlisted her mom and sister to join her, despite their self-professed lack of fashion sense. Inspired by styles seen on Lauren Ashley’s Instagram, they headed to Emerald City Gowns in Berkeley, CA.
After trying on about ten dresses, the stylist brought out one last dress that instantly captivated Donna and her family. They all exclaimed, “It looks like plants on this dress!” It was perfect—a sparkly gown with a beautiful train and plant-like embellishments that made Donna feel like a woodland queen.
The Big Day
The wedding was an incredible celebration with a fun, party, and music theme reminiscent of a music festival. Donna and Eric separated at 9:00 AM on the wedding day and didn’t see each other again until Donna walked down the aisle. This added a magical element to their first look in their wedding attire.
Donna walked down the aisle to her favorite Slayer song, a moment that transformed her anxiety into sheer joy. Surrounded by their loved ones, Donna and Eric exchanged heartfelt vows that perfectly conveyed their deep love and commitment. It truly was an epic wedding in Las Vegas.
